Transparent German Complete Edition Review
This software consists of 2 programs, the Transparent German course and the Before You Know It German (BYKI). These 2 programs are the building blocks of learning how to speak, read and write fluent German.
This software package includes an audio version which you can take and learn on the go without the use of a computer. You can install it on you iPhone or any MP3 playing device.
Software Features
There are over 65,000 German words included in this software which mean you can learn to speak quite fluently. German Complete Edition requires you to install both software and is run independently.
The flash card system (BYKI) is a great visual tool for learning new words and works in 3 steps: Preview It, Recognize It and Produce It. You can also record your voice and compare it to a native speaker to get the right pronunciation. You can also use the Slow Down Tool which allows you to hear each word slowly for a more effective learning and memorizing. The speech recognition is not the best we’ve used and not very accurate either.
Course Effectiveness
All the core fundamentals are included in this software. You can learn the necessary basics to construction sentences. With the amount of words included, you can also learn how to use a huge variety of vocabulary.
However it does not focus on the reading and listening aspect of the language which we find is an essential part that is missing.
Easy To Use
The package is split up into 2 software and can be downloaded electronically. By having 2 software to install it makes it confusing to use them both and they do not communicate with each other so it gets confusing when you should use each software.
It is however self explanatory and very simple to use with on screen help and online help available.

Conclusion
German Complete Edition lacks a goal tracking system which we find to be the most important aspect to your learning curve. Without goals and 2 separate software you will have to figure out your own pace. However this software does teach you necessary basics minus the written and reading component.
